My first impressions of (raw) Kamen Rider Gaim 33 under the cut. Spoilers, obviously. Read more “Enter the Beat Riders Resistance! Also, the Micchi-as-Zangetsu thing? Still not over”
Oh hey, look, it’s been almost a year since I posted here. :(
I have no excuse, other than the usual: been busy. Moved to a different country to do a graduate degree. It’s a good excuse, right?
However, I have kept up with Rider, and I love Gaim, so it’s pretty unforgivable that I have not given it its due here. I will try my best to fix that, as much as I can.
I’m back to watching Kamen Rider OOO, although I’m just not going to even attempt blogging every two episodes like I used to. Don’t really have the time for it, sadly.
At any rate, episode 32 has probably been my favorite of the series thus far. There’s a point (hopefully) in a Rider series where you feel that things are really heading somewhere, that revelations are being made, and you just start to sense what endgame is starting to make itself felt. This was that for OOO, I think.
Consider this a followup to that post I made on Shinji and the first episode of Kamen Rider Ryuki over a year ago.
Sat down and watched episodes 1 and 2 again today. Aside from being the episode where Shinji becomes Ryuki, episode 2 is also the true introduction to Reiko’s character. And it also just spells out what I mentioned in that previous post about Shinji rushing into things, clear as water, and how that is the reason he got involved in the Rider Battle in the first place.
Behind again, yada yada yada. Just finished episode 19, and while I do have last week’s episode ready to go, I think I’ll just give my thoughts on the past 4 episodes of Kamen Rider Wizard and leave what I assume is a two parter till the subs come out for 21.
So, to very briefly touch on each of the past 6 episodes…
Caught up again! Episode 11 is the conclusion of Kizaki’s (first?) arc, and episodes 12 and 13 are more about Shunpei, and his sense of worth as Haruto’s self-styled apprentice… but I’m actually just going to focus on how they encapsulate the theme of Kamen Rider Wizard perfectly.
I was a little bit behind on Kamen Rider Wizard, but yesterday I got caught up on episodes 6 through 9, and I have to say I’m really enjoying this year’s Rider. Haruto’s motivations have been nicely fleshed out, and the whole thing feels like it’s coming together nicely.
